Udi's Gluten Free

Posted by Unknown
Udi's recently launched into Tesco and with that came a lot of excitement from the Gluten Free community on my Twitter timeline. I accepted products for review but had them sent to my sister. Louise has been gluten free for a number of years so I felt she was better qualified for this review. In case you didn't realise being gluten free is not a requirement for me. Not all Udi's products are suitable for my allergies so it made more sense for my sister to take part as she lives gluten free on a daily basis where as I have the choice not to.

Here are her thoughts for some of the products she received (pictured above)

When my sister asked me to review some gluten free products – how could I say no! So the parcel arrived and I got stuck in. My goodies were presented in a lovely black Udi’s bag. The parcel contained: Mince Pies, Chocolate Chip & Toffee Muffins, Jalepeno Cheddar Ancient Grain Crisps, Cinnamon & Raisin Bagels, Strawberry Flavoured Toaster Pastries & Apple Cinnamon Toaster Pastries.

Chocolate Chip and Toffee Muffins – wow – words cannot describe how tasty these were. I had to stop myself eating the other one – but as no-one was looking, I did!! The toffee flavour isn't overpowering which I liked and there were plenty of chocolate chips to satisfy any chocolate craving. The texture was soft but firm and never crumbled like some cakes do. It wasn't heavy but light and fluffy. These are a definite repurchase in my opinion.

Jalepeno Cheddar Ancient Grain Crisps - I love Jalepeno and these were hot. Now I love hot things but on occasions these got a little too hot to handle! Even so, they were tasty – different but tasty. They were a lovely twist on your box standard crisps as these were...well as they say in the title, grain crisps.

Strawberry Flavoured Toaster Pastries – Oh my – how I have longed to try something like this! Great for snacking and great for breakfast – very impressed. The pastry was lovely, not too rich, never crumbled and the strawberry inside melted perfectly when grilled! I loved these.

Cinnamon & Raisin Bagels - unlike my sister I'm not a fan of cinnamon, so if I was to buy these I'd opt for the plain or savoury version. I preferred these toasted as I did feel that they were too dry to eat straight from the packet.

Overall, I was impressed by all the products – I will definitely be looking out for some in the supermarket.
